Alfred Hits The Headlines

Alfred Nobel 3Y0 Winning Sequence hit the headlines at Hawkesbury on Thursday. (April 14)

Winning Sequence, an $8 chance, finished gamely to beat the heavily-backed $1.30 debut favourite Radradra, a half-brother to Chautauqua, in the Extra Security Maiden (1100m).
The four-time Group 1 winning Chautauqua is currently No.4 on the World’s Best Racehorse Rankings behind Winx, California Chrome and Postponed.
The Team Hawkes-trained Radradra, ridden by Victorian-based Dwayne Dunn, who made the trip for the one ride, began cleanly and had a pressure free run in front.
Winning Supreme, ridden by Blake Shinn  for trainer Gary Moore, then applied pressure in the run home. The pair had a bumping duel inside the final 200m but Winning Sequence emerged strongest and scored by a half neck in 1.03.76.
Winning Supreme is from the un-raced New Zealand-bred Matilda Grace, by Stravinsky and a sister to La Italia, winner of the Group 2 Wakefield Challenge at Trentham and Listed Waikato New Zealand Bloodstock Classique. This is the immediate family of Asian Express, the 2013 champion Japanese colt, and Irish Lights, winner of the Group 1 One Thousand Guineas at Caulfield.
Winning Sequence was bred by Graham Daws’ Dawson Stud and sold for $60,000 at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.
