Trade Fair four-year-old Packing Whiz stormed home to win the $HK1.4 million Beijing Handicap (1600m) at Sha Tin yesterday. (October 1)
Packing Whiz, ridden by Tim Clark for trainer John Moore and having his first start for the new season, was second last on the home turn and dashed over the final 400m in 23.64sec.
He had finished the previous Hong Kong season in great style winning at two of his last three runs.
Packing Whiz raced in Europe as Al Rep and won the Group 3 Premio Parioli and Listed Premio Daumier in Italy. He now has the career record of seven wins and four placings from 15 starts.
Bred in Ireland from the Efisio mare, Swizzle, Picking Whiz is from the same maternal line as Mungrup Stud’s shuttle stallion Dick Turpin.
Trade Fair gained his 106th individual winner when Swap Ya won the Zig Zag Fashion Boutique Maiden (1100m) on debut at Northam on Sunday. (September 30)
Swap Ya, bred by Rick Hart’s Kentville Pty Ltd, is from Thunder Vision, by Thunder Gulch, a half-sister to Fireband, winner of the Listed Raconteur Stakes, H.G. Bolton Sprint and Placid Ark Stakes.
This is also the family of Mirror Magic (WA Derby, Perth Cup and C.B. Cox Stakes) and her half-brother Bold Mirage (C.B. Cox Stakes).
