He Wasn’t Fooling

Trade Fair six-year-old Only Orsenfoolsies led and fought hard to win the Braveheart Handicap (12 furlongs) at Hamilton in Scotland on Friday. (May 15)

Only Orsenfoolsies, ridden by P.J. McDonald, currently equal eighth on the English flat jockey premiership, for North Yorkshire trainer Micky Hammond, a former top jumps jockey, started at 14/1 and beat Dark Ruler (11/2) by a nose. Pearl Castle (10/1) was five lengths way third with Roger Varian’s 100/30 favourite, Igider, ninth in the 10-horse field.
The win was the sixth for Only Orsenfooslie. He had previously been successful at Beverley, Catterick, Haydock, Ripon and Pontefract.
Racing has been held at Hamilton, the fourth biggest town in Scotland, since 1782.
