Tough Trade Fair seven-year-old George Benjamin has done it again.
‘George’ gained his fifth win in a 48-start career – he’s also been placed 19 times – when successful in the Ladbrokes Handicap (seven furlongs) at Southwell in England yesterday. (Tuesday, January 28)
He dwelt at the start losing ground, made up position mid-race, was wide on the turn and hit the front with 100 yards to go.’ George’, a 7/2 chance, then drew away to win by a length from Solarmaite (14/1) and the 7/4 favourite Stun Gun.
He is owned and raced by former jockey Mick Appelby, who trains a 48-horse team from Nottinghamshire. ‘George’ is from Unchain My Heart, by Pursuit Of Love.
