Trade Fair’s Group Winning Run Continues

Trade Fair’s outstanding international feature race winning run continued when Plantagenet took the Group 3 IKC Fonder Pramms Memorial (8 1/2-furlongs) at Jagersro in Sweden yesterday. (May 6)

The six-year-old was having his first start after competing at the rich Dubai World Cup Carnival where he won the Gloria De Campeao (10 furlongs) and was second to Con Artist in the Al Naboodah Trophy (nine furlongs).
Plantagenet, bred in Spain, was ridden back from a wide drawn at Jagersro, hit the front under jockey Per-Anders Graberg with 1 1/2-furlongs to go and won easing down by 1 1/2-lengths from the Brazilian-bred Energia Colonial. The German-bred Lindenthaler was five lengths away third.
Plantagenet had also won the SOG Finance (10 furlongs) when raced at last year’s Dubai World Cup Carnival.
His Swedish success follows hot on the heels of other recent big race wins in Dubai and Hong Kong for fellow Trade Fair stars.
Trade Storm, a winner at Newbury, Doncaster and York in England, won the Group 2 Zabeel Mile and Jaguar XF Trophy (nine furlongs) in Dubai, was sold for a high price to members of the Qatar royal family and is being set for the Group 1 W.S. Cox Plate in Melbourne.
Packing Whiz, winner of the Listed Mauro Sbarigia (7 1/2-furlongs) and Group 3 Premio Parioli (one mile) in Italy, won the Group 2 Chairman’s Trophy (one mile) in Hong Kong at his first run for trainer Caspar Fownes.
A winner at five of nine starts, Packing Whiz had previously been successful the Group 3 Ladies Purse (nine furlongs) in Hong Kong when trained by John Moore.
Trade Fair will stand the coming season at John Andrew’s Alwyn Park Stud, Serpentine, at an unchanged $4950, including GST.
