Trade Fair Filly Smashes Favourite

Trade Fair filly Milly’s Gift, having just her second start, smashed favourite punters when winning at Kempton in England yesterday. (March 13)

Milly’s Gift, racing for the first time since an October 17 debut two-length third to Flawless Beauty, also at Kempton, was sent out at 11/4 for the Cheltenham Median Auction Stakes (six furlongs) with betting dominated by Andrew Balding’s Irish-bred 11/4 on favourite You Da One, placed at his previous two starts at Newmarket and York.
She chased the leaders, drew level with You Da One two furlongs out and ran away to score by 1 1/4-lengths.
Milly’s Gift, trained by Clive Cox at Lambourn and ridden by John Fahy, is from Milly’s Lass, by Mind Games.
Cox, a former national hunt jockey, prepares last year’s champion English two-year-old colt Reckless Abandon.
Reckless Abandon, a 24,000 Guineas yearling by Exchange Rate selected by Cox, is unbeaten in five starts headed by the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes, Group 1 Prix Morny, Group 2 Norfolk Stakes and Group 2 Prix Robert Papin.
He has been sold to Darley as a future stallion but leased back to owners Julie Deadman and Stephen Barrow until the end of this year.
Trade Fair, who stands at Alwyn Park, Serpentine, has now sired 118 individual winners.
