Little Aussie’s No Battler

Ivan Bridgeman heaped praise on Aussie Trader after his fast-finishing win in the Perth Ice Works Handicap (1600m) at Ascot yesterday (January 31).

And no wonder.

For Aussie Trader, a three-year-old by Trade Fair from Mary Dane, by Danetime, and having just his fourth start gave the well-respected farrier Bridgeman his first city training success.

“Jockey Chad Davies said from day one he had a heap of ability,” said Bridgeman. “But he’s the laziest horse around.

“It takes me half an hour to get him the 100 yards from my stables to the track. All he does is stop and look around.

“He’s a real character. But I loved the little horse.”

Aussie Trader is bred to run.

Trade Fair has sired 114 individual winners and Mary Dane is a half-sister to Miss Precisely, who won the Group 3 Champion Filies Stakes and was second in the Group 1 Fruit ‘N’ Veg Stakes.

On top of all this, Aussie Trader in inbred 3 x 3 to the mighty Danehill.
