Konstantin, a son of Lynward Park’s Balmont, won the feature Gurkha Cup (seven furlongs) at Folkestone in England on Sunday (August 12).
He has now won at four of 15 starts, with four placings, for owner Lady Tennant and trainer Marcus Tregoning.
Konstantin is from the un-raced Manuka Magic, by Key Of Luck, and is a half-brother to Aspen Darlin, winner of the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde Stakes and runner-up in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes.
This is the family of successful sire Grand Lodge, who headed the 1993 European 3Y0 Classification. His four wins included the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes and the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes.
Balmont, winner of the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes and Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes, is a half-brother to champion US 3Y0 Eskendereya, who stands at the trend-setting Taylor Made Farm near Lexington, Kentucky.
Balmont has sired 11 individual winners from a handful of runners.
