Trade Fair mare Variety Fair continued to progress towards a feature race win taking the Call TAB To Bet 132 369 Handicap (1600m) at Ascot on Wednesday.
Variety Fair, bred by leading bloodstock agent John Chalmers, was bumped at the start and raced wide throughout before recording a most courageous half-length win.
She has now been successful at two of three starts since resuming and has finished in the money at half of eight career runs.
Variety Fair is a half-sister to both Listed Sheila Gwynne Stakes winner Salisbury Street and Broome Time, the eight-race winner and joint State 1400m record holder.
She descends from the family of Perth Cup winners Muros and Royal Coral. And, being trained by the Cups King Alan Mathews, would appear certain to handle further ground.
Trade Fair has now sired 85 winners at 58.6 per cent. With big books still to race his best days are certainly ahead.
Trade Fair’s stock appear ideal for WA – winning from short courses to middle distances.
