Champion Irish stallion Danehill Dancer, the sire of Lynward Park’s Alfred Nobel, gained his 140th stakes winner when Megem’s Boy took the Listed 1000m Beaufine Stakes at Belmont Park on Saturday (August 28).
Danehill Dancer is now permanently based at Coolmore Stud’s County Tipperary base after several years of shuttling to Australia.
Megem’s Boy was bred by the late, great Sydney trainer Jack Denham and is a grand-son of his brilliant sprinter Joanne.
Joanne, bred, owned and trained by Denham, won 16 times, from 1000m to 1280m, taking the Group 2 Expressway Stakes and Theo Marks Handicap, Group 3 Missile Stakes-twice, Premiere Stakes-twice, Light Fingers Stakes, Rupert Steele Stakes and Frederick Clissold Handicap and Listed Concorde Stakes. She was also second in the Group 2 Surround Stakes and A.J. Moir Stakes and third in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate.
The rising seven-year-old Megem’s Boy now has 10 wins and 13 placings from 52 starts for almost $300,000 in stakes.
