Alfred Nobel’s English Win

Three-year-old Alfred Nobel filly Peace Prize finished strongly to win the Princess Bella Handicap (10 furlongs) at Nottingham in England yesterday. (Wednesday April 8)

Peace Prize, a 20/1 chance having her fourth start for trainer Hugo Palmer and jockey Toby Atkinson, beat the 15/8 favourite Yorkidding by 3/4-length with a further 1/2-length to the 4/1 second favourite Noro Lim.
Yorkidding was ridden by Silvestre de Sousa for trainer Mark Johnston and Noro Lim by Kevin Scott for trainer Luca Cumani.
Alfred Nobel, who stands the coming stud season at Lynward Park, Bullsbrook, has sired 11 individual winners from his first northern hemisphere crop.
He has had four Perth runners from his first WA crop – Showy Chloe (third in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate, Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes and Listed Supremacy Stakes at her only three starts), Dickey (second in the Westspeed 2Y0 Plate and third in the Listed Magic Millions Perth 2Y0 Classic), Danerip’s Girl (second in the Westspeed 2Y0 Plate-twice from three runs) and Regal Gleam (second in the Westspeed 2Y0 Plate at her only start).
Though Alfred Nobel was a brilliant 2Y0 winning both the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes and Group 2 Railway Stakes in Ireland he is bred to produce winners over a variety of distances.
His grand-dam, Dazzling Park, won to nine furlongs and was the champion European 3Y0 filly in 1999. And his third dam, Park Express, won to 1 1/2 miles and was the joint champion 2Y0 filly and champion 3Y0 filly in Ireland in 1985/86.
Park Express is the dam of New Approach, the champion 2Y0 and 3Y0 European colt in 2007/08 and a winner to 1 1/2 miles taking the Group 1 English Derby and both the Group 1 English and Irish Champion Stakes.
