The Yank Wins Again
Trade Fair’s tough-as-teak 6Y0 The Yank gained his third win in 11 days when successful in the Bet On Totetrifecta Handicap (13 1/2 furlongs) at Chelmsford in England yesterday. (February 12)
The Yank, the favourite at 5/4 on, was held-up at the tail under jockey William Carson and moved up to challenge at the three-furlong marker.
The authoritative Racing Post reported: ‘The Yank was ridden to lead 150 yards out and was eased near the finish.’
The Yank, prepared by trainer Tony Carroll, had won the Hands And Heels Handicap (14 furlongs) at Wolverhampton on February 2 as the 6/4 favourite and the 32Redsport.com Handicap (16 1/2 furlongs) at Wolverhampton on February 9 as the 9/4 second favourite.
The wins came after The Yank had finished second at his previous three starts.
