A Fair Gift
Trade Fair three-year-old filly Milly’s Gift bought up her third win from seven starts when successful in the Bathwick Handicap (5 1/2 furlongs) at Bath in England on Saturday. (September 14)
Milly’s Gift, a 7/1 chance prepared by trainer-of-the-moment Clive Cox, raced handy but was held-up and sprinted hard when clear to score by 1 3/4 lengths.
She had won twice over six furlongs at Kempton earlier this year.
Cox, a former jumps jockey who trains from Lambourn, prepared the grey flash Lethal Force to lead and wins this year’s Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket, both over six furlongs.
Lethal Force’s time of 1.9.11 in the July Cup broke Stravinsky’s 14-year-old track record.
Milly’s Gift’s win came six days after Trade Fair’s Grand Crusade won the Kambalda Cup (1400m) at Kalgoorlie.
Trade Fair, who has sired 135 individual winners, stands for $4,500, plus GST, at Alwyn Park Stud, Serpentine.
