Busy Balmont’s Break

High-class international sprinter Balmont Mast, by Lynward Park’s Balmont, is to have a well-deserved break following a busy first half of the year that has seen him run six times around the world.

The authoritative English Racing Post reported yesterday that Balmont Mast had earned almost $A500,000 from his exploits in Dubai and Singapore.
His latest effort saw him finish fourth in the Group 1 KrisFlyer International Sprint at Kranji.
“He came out of the race very well,” said County Meath, Ireland, trainer Eddie Lynam, who is also a part-owner of Balmont Mast.
“But for getting things wrong in the first furlong in the KrisFlyer, when he couldn’t hold his position, I think he was unlucky not to finish second.
“He still ran a very good race and will get a well-deserved break and be freshened with a UK autumn campaign in mind.”
Balmont Mast, a five-year-old from Corn Futures, by Nomination, was bred by Tara Stud in Ireland, where Balmont stood while on shuttle duties. He is now based permanently at Lynward Park.
