Balmont’s Long Distance Double
Lynward Park’s Balmont has just completed a long distance siring double.
Presburg won the Brasserie Italy Handicap (10 furlongs) at Brighton in England on Tuesday then 24-hours later Park Lane won the Crown Perth Handicap (1000m) at Belmont Park.
The Irish-bred Presburg, from Eschasse, by Zilzal, was held-up at the tail till taking the lead at the furlong and holding off the 10/11 favourite, Highland Duke, to win by a half length. He started at 5/1.
Park Lane, from Kirov Ballet, by Dauberval and bred by Lynward Park, set the pace and held off the $4.80 favourite Bar Dreaming. He started at $7.
Balmont’s international star Balmont Mast followed up a close second in the Group 1 Golden Shaheen in Dubai with a fourth in last Sunday’s Group 1 Krisflyer International Sprint in Singapore.
