‘Fair’ Flying At Bathurst

Bathurst is famous for the Bathurst 1000, the V8 Supercar Classic known nationally as ‘The Great Race.’
But the central NSW tablelands city, 200km west of Sydney, saw some power with a difference, and with a WA flavour, when three-year-old Trial Ground won the Rural Press Maiden (1100m), for colts and geldings, by 2 1/4-lengths on Monday in a slick 1.03.67.
Trial Ground’s time was 1.09sec. faster than Hollywood Drive recorded winning the following race, the Bathurst Regional Council Handicap, for fillies and mares.
Trial Ground, the $2.30 favourite, is by Trade Fair from Starenza, a half-sister to Ros Reef (Group 2 Perth Cup and Listed ATA Stakes), Knight Academy (Listed J.C. Roberts Stakes) and Kathros (third Group 2 Perth Cup).
Trade Fair, who stands at Alwyn Park, Serpentine, has now sired 119 individual winners.
