Consistent Trade Fair mare Counter Offer gained a well-deserved win taking the Barry Harris 70th Birthday Handicap (1400m) at Belmont Park yesterday (June 13).
Counter Offer, bred by Mount Richon Investments Pty Ltd and trained by the veteran Colin Webster, was well-placed by stable jockey Troy Turner and ran away for an impressive 1 3/4-length victory in 1.24.91 on the Dead5 track.
At her previous start Counter Offer was something beaten when slow away, 10th on the turn and a two-length third toTiffany Yellow and Cyclonic Halo in the 1400m PR Punters Club Handicap at Belmont Park.
Counter Offer now has three wins and seven placings from 14 starts.
She’s from the Al Hareb mare, Pseudo, a half-sister to Laranto and Lusso.
Laranto won the Group 3 VATC Autumn Classic and the Listed Rancher Stakes and MacDonald Stakes, was third in the Group 1 Australian Guineas and stood at stud in WA. Lusso won the Group 3 VATC Debutante Stakes and Listed MVRC Silver Jubilee Stakes.
