Promising Trade Fair sprinter Caldo set the pace and held on to win the Warner Glen Handicap, 1200m, at Pinjarra on Monday in a smart 1.11.55 for Simon Miller. It was Caldo’s second win from eight starts with three placings. Caldo, bred by Lyn Shirley of Wave Farm Thoroughbreds, is from the Is It True mare, True Vigil, an un-raced blood-sister to the grand sprinter Scout’s Honour. Scout’s Honour won 15 times for trainer Lou Luciani including the Colonel Reeves Stakes, Summer Scorcher and O’Grady Lefroy Sprint. True Vigil has now had two offspring to race for two winners. Lou Louciani having success with Caldo’s 1/2 brother, She’ll Be Right, by Right Wing.
Trade Fair now has 202 named foals for 147 starters (72.8 per cent) and 85 winners (57.8 per cent). With big WA crops yet to hit the track, Trade Fair’s winning statistics are set to explode.
