Bargain-priced Winner

Bargain-priced Alfred Nobel filly, Miss Ellmya, was extremely brave winning the Rick Hart Life Member Plate (1000m) at Ascot on Wednesday. (May 8)

Having just her second start, Miss Ellmya raced wide without cover before gaining a head victory in 59.67sec.

Miss Ellmya, from Movie Queen, by Bletchley Park, is prepared by the leading trainer Adam Durrant for owner Rob Gulberti.

“We saw her at Dawson Stud before the sales,” said Gulberti. “She walked into the barn with a big swagger and we kept our eye on her.

“There was only one other bidder and we got her for $6,000.

“The first-up run was a learning curve. She hasn’t put a foot wrong. She’s a little trier with above average ability.”

Apprentice Brodie Kirby described Miss Ellmya as “a little gun,”

“It was a shame she got caught wide,” said Kirby. “But the stable was confident and she found when I asked for an effort.”

Miss Ellmya showed, once again, that it doesn’t take big money to secure a nice winning racehorse.
