Another Nobel Winner

Lynward Park’s Alfred Nobel gained the tenth individual winner from his first northern hemisphere crop when Birkdale Boy won The App Store Handicap (seven furlongs) at Lingfield in England yesterday. (Wednesday February 18)

Birkdale Boy, an 8/1 chance ridden by Tony Hamilton for trainer Richard Fahey, set the pace and kicked clear to score by two lengths from the US-bred Vincenzo Coccotti (5/1) and the 9/2 favourite Toast Of Newbury.
Alfred Nobel, winner of the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes and Group 2 Railway Stakes in Ireland and from the family of English Derby winner New Approach, has had winners in England, Ireland, France and Italy. He has also had nine individual placegetters.
