Alfred Nobel Colt Stars

A brown colt by Lynward Park shuttler Alfred Nobel has starred in preparation for the Magic Millions Gold Coast 2Y0s In Training Sale that will be held on September 30.

151 of the 222 lots entered for the sale breezed-up over 200m at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Monday. (September 8)
The Alfred Nobel colt, from Matilda Grace and prepared by Queensland’s Kenmore Lodge, recorded 10.35sec. Fastest time was 10sec. recorded by the Not A Single Doubt-Take Charge colt, also prepared by Kenmore Lodge.
The Alfred Nobel colt was bred by Dawson Stud, Myalup, and sold for $60,000 at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale in February.
He was destined to run fast.
Alfred Nobel was Ireland’s best 2Y0 in 2009 when he won the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes and Group 2 Railway Stakes.
The un-raced Matila Grace is by Stravinsky, the dual Group 1 winner and 1999 champion European sprinter, and is a half-sister to Group 2 New Zealand Challenge Stakes winner La Italia. The Alfred Nobel colt is her first foal.
Matila Grace comes from one of world racing’s most successful families.
She has 15 Group 1 winners under her grand-dam, River Crossing, and third dam, Change Water: Irish Lights (Australian One Thousand Guineas), Asia Express (Japanese Futurity Stakes), Fall Aspen (US Matron Stakes), Northern Aspen (US Gamely Handicap), Hamas (English July Cup), Timber Country (US Breeders Cup Juvenile, Champagne Stakes and Preakness Stakes), Fort Wood (Grand Prix de Paris), Elnadim (July Cup), Mehthaaf (Irish One Thousand Guineas), Occupandiste (French Prix de la Foret and Prix Maurice de Gheest), Intello (French Derby), Dubai Millenium (English Prince Of Wales’s Stakes and Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes, French Prix Jacques Le Marois and Dubai World Cup), Europa Point (South African Champions Challenge Stakes), Medaaly (English Racing Post Trophy) and Dixie Union (US Malibu Stakes).
